Perioral Dermatitis is an inflammatory rash that often looks like acne. It affects the skin around the mouth and can spread to cover larger areas of the face. Perioral Dermatitis can look very similar to the bumps and pimples of rosacea, and the rash may cause a burning and/or itching sensation. It's unknown what exactly causes it, but it's thought to be caused by the prolonged use of steroidal creams, an overuse of heavy moisturizing agents, and more recently, many people are experiencing Perioral Dermatitis due to prolonged use of facemasks especially where harsh detergents are used in cleaning of reusable cloth facemasks.
EMUAID and EMUAIDMAX First Aid Ointments are very effective treatment options for Perioral Dermatitis to eliminate the rash, pain, itching and any potential burning sensation.
If it's occasional, with a mild case of redness, bumps, itching, low level of discomfort and symptoms have lasted less than 1 month, we recommend EMUAID (regular strength, blue label).
If it’s chronic/recurring redness and bumps, with moderate to severe itching and high levels of discomfort and a rash lasting over a month, we recommend EMUAIDMAX (Maximum strength, red label).
